Price is one of the common disadvantages of thermoforming. The process, with its complexity, costs about 50% more than other molding methods.

Thick gauge on the other hand, uses thicker plastic sheets that passes through a heating process and molded to its final form. Both may undergo vacuum thermoforming processes to mold the plastic to its final shape.
